A new vision, renewed ambition
BUMAX suffered several years of difficult conditions, largely fuelled by difficult trading conditions and an over-dependence on large volume business from the automotive sector. Sales were entirely dependent on the parent group and external distributors. A radical change in direction was needed and this led to a complete new strategy from the ground up.
With a new management team in place, focus shifted to R&D and creating a range of unique fastener product grades that went beyond conventional standards. Known internally as the ‘new generation’ of high-strength products, the first of these was BUMAX® ULTRA 159, a super-high strength fastener grade (which came to be known as ‘The World’s Strongest Stainless Steel Bolt’).
